Abstract

The activated carbon was synthesized via carbonization and activation process. The obtained activated carbon could be used to remove ammonia, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, butane, propane, methane, ethylene, and nitrogen oxide. The adsorption data and adsorption kinetics were studied by using Langmuir model, Freundlich model, pseudo second order model, and pseudo first order kinetic isotherm. The thermodynamic investigations revealed that the adsorption process was spontaneous. Experimental results highlighted that the prepared activated carbon was suitable for gas purification.
